TOWILD CL1200 Front Bicycle Light Review
The TOWILD CL1200 front light (Amazon) on a KOM bracket, with wireless remote on the handlebars.
I had two very specific reasons for buying this light. Firstly, there is a 3 km stretch near my home that is all uphill. After the 95 km that precedes it, I don't feel like riding on the road, so I ride on the pavement. The path is surrounded on both sides by overhanging trees, and at night, I cannot see the tree roots that break through the tarmac.
Secondly, I’ve left the GPS running on my iPhone before leaving with no power (so no gps, messenger, or google translate), so I carry a spare battery.
I really like having the light centered above the front wheel. The mount is GoPro-style, so during the day, I can easily switch the light with my GoPro or put the GoPro in my pocket when I need to leave the bike unattended while shopping.
I have only used the pulse mode at dusk, and it’s very effective. I’ve used the light at full power on my way home, and it will definitely dazzle cars coming toward you, so I now avoid using it on the pavement when facing traffic.
The light has a pulse mode, which I had assumed would be like the daytime lights I often see on bikes, but it is more suited to nighttime use. I’ll re-read the instructions on that.
