この見事な作品は、葛飾北斎の代表作「神奈川沖浪裏」を、職人の手作業で重ね木で再現したものです。天然のシナノキを精密にカットした5層構造で、一つ一つ手作業で塗装・組み立てられており、時代を超えた日本の傑作に深みと現代的な職人技が息づいています。

作品について
葛飾北斎の「神奈川沖浪裏」は、日本美術の中でも最も有名な作品の一つです。1830年代に富嶽三十六景の一つとして出版されたこの版画は、遠くに富士山を望みながら、漁船に押し寄せる巨大な波を描いています。
この現代的な解釈は、葛飾北斎の原作にインスピレーションを与えた神奈川で制作され、場所、作者、そして職人技の間で物語が完結しています。それぞれの作品は、ティム氏によって日本でデザイン、塗装、組み立てが行われ、細部に至るまで細心の注意が払われています。
