This stunning piece is a handcrafted layered wood reimagining of Hokusai’s iconic “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” Built from five precision-cut layers of natural basswood, each individually painted and assembled by hand, it brings depth and modern craftsmanship to a timeless Japanese masterpiece.

About the Artwork
“The Great Wave off Kanagawa” by Katsushika Hokusai is one of the most recognized works in Japanese art. Originally published in the 1830s as part of his series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, the print depicts a towering wave about to crash over fishing boats, with Mount Fuji in the distance.
This modern interpretation is created in Kanagawa, the same region that inspired Hokusai’s original — bringing the story full circle between location, artist, and craftsmanship. Each piece is designed, painted, and assembled by Mr. Tim in Japan, with care and attention to every detail.
