The Map

Introduction

Celebrate Britain’s proud lifeboat heritage with this handcrafted Fleetwood Lifeboat Station Map, designed and made in Kanagawa, Japan by Mr. Tim. Each layered wooden artwork captures the Lancashire coastline, showing the location of the RNLI Fleetwood Station and the area its crews protect.

Coverage Area

This map represents the station’s approximate operational coverage: it spans half the sea area between Fleetwood and the RNLI Morecambe station to the north, and half the sea area between Fleetwood and the RNLI Blackpool station to the south. It’s a collector-friendly way to visualise how the RNLI network safeguards this stretch of the UK coast.

Design Layers

  • Water layers: Deep blue indicates the deeper waters of the Irish Sea to the west; a light surf blue marks the coastal shallows.
  • Land & roads: The land is engraved with minor roads, with a separate grey layer for major roads to add clarity and depth.
  • Shannon-class engraving: Includes an engraved illustration of the Fleetwood Shannon-class lifeboat for authenticity and character.
  • Station highlight: The exact lifeboat station/boathouse is marked with a small wooden magnifier element to draw the eye.

Personalisation

Make it yours with custom engraving—add the recipient’s name, a short thank-you message, a vacation date, service details, or other text of your choosing.

Historical Note

The Fleetwood Lifeboat Station has protected this coast since 1859, among the oldest in the region. Today’s modern Shannon-class lifeboat “Kenneth James Pierpoint” (13-07) continues that tradition, responding to emergencies in the often-challenging waters of the Irish Sea.

Perfect For

  • RNLI supporters and lifeboat enthusiasts
  • Collectors of coastal and maritime art
  • Tourists seeking a distinctive Fleetwood memento
  • Retirement or thank-you gifts for crew and volunteers

Craftsmanship

Each piece is handmade from natural wood. Variations in grain, texture, and finish mean every map is truly one of a kind. Similar maps can be made for any RNLI lifeboat station across the UK on request.

Independently created and not affiliated with or endorsed by the RNLI.
