Layer by Layer: Turning Course Data Into Golf Art
-
Play the Game
It starts with a course you love. Whether it’s a bucket-list destination or your home club, each map is inspired by the beauty and strategy of the game. Pictured: Gotemba Golf Club, with Mount Fuji rising in the distance.
-
Water Features
Oceans, rivers, and lakes are laser-cut and spray-painted in candy blue using layered coating techniques. This adds color depth, contrast, and topographical accuracy to the course layout.
-
Fairways & Greens
Laser-cut from spray-painted MDF in soft green tones, the fairways and greens are precisely positioned and securely mounted to the wood base. Their layered placement mimics the natural contour and flow of each hole for a realistic, dimensional effect.
-
Roads & Access Paths
Local roads, access paths, and boundary features are laser-cut from basewood, then spray-painted in neutral grey. This layer adds real-world context to the course layout while preserving a clean, structural aesthetic.
-
Clubhouse & Key Buildings
Important structures like the clubhouse and practice facilities are crafted from painted black basewood, laser-cut with clean edges for precision and bold contrast. These features add clarity and depth to the overall golf course layout.
-
Hole Markers
Each hole is marked with a red painted basewood flag, engraved with the hole number. These stand out as bright focal points and help visualize course progression at a glance.
-
Trees
Tree clusters are cut from deep green painted basewood, adding texture and contrast to the open fairways while reflecting the course’s natural setting.
-
Compass Rose
A beautifully engraved compass rose is etched into the wood base layer, providing orientation and a finishing detail that reflects the artistry of traditional mapmaking.
-
Course Name & Personal Message
Each map features the course name at the top and the location in the footer. Add a custom message like a name, event, or date—perfect for golf gifts, milestones, or retirements.
-
Shipping
Each framed golf course map is carefully packed in a sturdy cardboard mailer to protect the artwork in transit. A hanging string is included with every order for easy wall display.

FAQ
Can I request a specific golf course?
Yes. You can choose from courses I’ve already designed, or request a new one—just enter the course name when ordering. I currently focus on courses in Japan but am open to international requests if good reference data is available.
Can I request a preview before purchase?
Because of the design time involved, previews are only provided after purchase. If you'd like to see a visual proof before committing, I offer a non-refundable ¥2,000 preview, which is fully credited toward your final order if you proceed.
What information do I need to provide?
Just the name and location of the golf course. If possible, please include a link to a current map or the official course website. (Some courses do update their layout over time.) I’ll handle the layout design and orientation to best fit the A3 format.
Can I customize the layout or add a message?
Yes. Each map includes the course name and location by default, but I can add a custom message or dedication on request—such as a name, date, or event. Just include your request at checkout or message me directly.
Can I request a different size?
At this time, all golf course maps are created in A3 format only (29.7 × 42 cm / approx. 11.7 × 16.5 inches). This size offers the best balance between visual clarity, layout accuracy, and framing practicality. Smaller sizes are not currently supported.
Can I request a custom color for part of the map?
Yes. While most color elements are standardized for clarity—such as green fairways, candy blue water, and black buildings—you may request a custom color for certain features, like the hole flags or other highlights.
A custom color upgrade is available for ¥2,000, subject to acrylic availability. Available colors may include shades of blue, green, red, yellow, as well as violet, pink, brown, and ivory.
Please contact me before ordering to check availability and confirm your request.
