Dan Henry 1939 Military Chronograph Watch Review

Dan Henry 1939 Military Chronograph
In the 1930s, functionality was paramount. Navy and Air Force officers relied on watches not only to tell time, but to calculate speed, distance, and even heart rate. The Dan Henry 1939 Military Chronograph is a faithful tribute to that era, blending historical design with modern reliability.

Chronograph Functions
Inspired by traditional military chronographs, the dial features three classic measurement scales:
- Telemeter: Measures distance based on the speed of sound
- Tachymeter: Calculates average speed over a known distance
- Pulsometer: Records heart rate
Scratch-Resistant Crystal
The dial is protected by sapphire-coated, double-domed mineral glass with anti-reflective treatment, offering improved scratch resistance and reduced glare.
Visibility & Precision
A glossy black multi-scale dial is paired with gilt numerals and gold syringe-style hands, providing excellent contrast and legibility. The watch is powered by the Miyota 6S21 Japanese quartz chronograph movement, featuring a smooth central chronograph seconds hand.
Water Resistance
With water resistance rated to 50 metres, the watch can handle everyday exposure to water, including swimming and pool use.
Case & Design
Measuring 41 mm wide, 49 mm lug-to-lug, and 13.9 mm thick, the case is larger than vintage originals but remains well proportioned by modern standards. Brushed surfaces are contrasted with polished edges, chronograph pushers, and an onion-style crown. The screw-down case back features conversion tables for temperature, fuel consumption, pressure, and speed.
Strap Options
The watch is available with either a 1939-style leather strap or a military-grade NATO strap. Both options offer quick-release functionality and are designed for comfortable daily wear.
