Tokyo Marathon 2025 & 2026 Wooden Map – Handcrafted Race Route Art

A new Tokyo Marathon 2025–2026 project from my workshop in Tokyo – combining real race data, detailed wooden map layers, and some exciting updates as we head into the new year.

A New Map for an Iconic Race

The Tokyo Marathon is one of the world’s great city marathons, winding through famous landmarks, busy streets, and hidden corners of the city I call home. I’ve wanted to create a dedicated laser-cut wooden map of the full marathon route for a long time, and I’m happy to share that the 2025 and 2026 editions are now underway.

The official route for 2025 and 2026 is the same, so this wooden map design will suit runners taking part in either year. Just like my cycling and Strava GPX maps, this piece is cut layer by layer from real race route data to create a meaningful, tactile 3D artwork.

What the Tokyo Marathon Wooden Map Will Include

The current design includes:

Full 2025–2026 marathon route – plotted from real GPX data.
Layered city streets and rivers – multi-layer laser-cut wood depth.
Engraved personal race details – your name, bib number, and official finish time.
Hand-finished in Tokyo – each map is individually cut, assembled, sanded, and inspected.

30 × 40 cm (11.8" × 15.7")
40 × 50 cm (15.7" × 19.7")
50 × 70 cm (19.7" × 27.5")

Worldwide Shipping in Protective Packaging

Many runners travel from overseas to take part in the Tokyo Marathon 2025 and 2026. To make things easier, these maps ship worldwide for free, safely and securely. Each map is packaged in a custom double-layered cardboard box designed specifically for layered wood artwork.

All orders include tracked shipping. For customers in the USA, import duties and taxes are prepaid (DDP/PPD), meaning there are no extra fees on delivery — your artwork arrives smoothly and without surprises.

Order Before the Race – Get Your Finish Time Engraved

If you’re running the Tokyo Marathon 2025 or 2026, you can order your map before the event. I will prepare your piece in advance, and as soon as you send me your official finish time on race day, I’ll engrave it along with your name and bib number, then aim to ship your finished artwork within 48 hours.

This ensures your personalised Tokyo Marathon wooden map arrives promptly, preserving the excitement and emotion of the race while it’s still fresh.
