Outdoor Adventures in Japan: Crayfish, BBQ, and Summer Fun
Finally — after a hectic few weeks of report writing, classroom prep, and the usual end-of-term chaos — it was time for some well-earned outdoor fun.
In this vlog, I take my kids to a local outdoor adventure playground with a BBQ area. That tiny lobster-looking creature? It’s a freshwater crayfish. And yes, the first time a student suddenly waved one at me, it genuinely scared the life out of me.
You’ll also spot the classic Japanese summer game suikawari (watermelon smashing) — a tradition you’ll see everywhere during Japan’s hot, humid summers, and a guaranteed hit with kids.
