Outdoor Adventures in Japan: Crayfish, BBQ, and Summer Fun
Finally! After a hectic few weeks of writing reports, wiping noses, and prepping my classroom for next year, it’s time for some well-earned outdoor fun.
In this vlog, I take my kids to a local outdoor adventure playground with a BBQ area. That tiny lobster-looking thing? It’s a freshwater crayfish — and yes, the first time a student waved one at me out of nowhere, it scared the life out of me.
You’ll also see the classic watermelon smashing game (suikawari), a super common summer tradition in Japan that keeps kids active and cool during our hot, humid summers.
