Tokyo Yamanote Line Map – Handcrafted Wooden Railway Route Map
This handcrafted wooden map celebrates Tokyo's iconic Yamanote Line, the circular railway route that connects many of the city's most famous districts and landmarks. The route is highlighted in the line's distinctive green, with engraved wooden station markers allowing each stop to be identified and explored.
The railway route that defines Tokyo
For many visitors, the Yamanote Line is their introduction to Tokyo. Circling the heart of the city, it links major destinations including Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Ueno, Akihabara, Tokyo Station, and Ikebukuro. More than simply a railway, it is the route that ties together the city's neighbourhoods, culture, shopping districts, and daily life.
Layered wooden map design
- Yamanote Line route layer – the complete railway loop is highlighted in Yamanote Line green, making the route immediately recognisable.
- Station markers – engraved wooden pins identify every station along the line, creating a clear visual journey around Tokyo.
- Water layer (sprayed blue gradient) – rivers, canals, and Tokyo Bay are painted by hand using a gradient that transitions from deep blue to lighter coastal tones.
- Terrain contours (engraved) – subtle contour lines reveal the geography beneath the city and add depth to the design.
- Road network layer – major roads and expressways provide context while maintaining a clean and elegant appearance.
Every station on the Yamanote Line
Tokyo, Kanda, Akihabara, Okachimachi, Ueno, Uguisudani, Nippori, Nishi-Nippori, Tabata, Komagome, Sugamo, Otsuka, Ikebukuro, Mejiro, Takadanobaba, Shin-Okubo, Shinjuku, Yoyogi, Harajuku, Shibuya, Ebisu, Meguro, Gotanda, Osaki, Shinagawa, Takanawa Gateway, Tamachi, Hamamatsucho, Shimbashi, and Yurakucho.
A unique Tokyo souvenir
Designed for visitors to Japan, railway enthusiasts, commuters, and lovers of Tokyo, this map captures one of the world's most famous urban rail networks as a piece of architectural wall art. Whether displayed as a reminder of a journey through Japan or as part of a railway collection, it celebrates the route that millions of passengers travel every day.
Handcrafted in Japan
Each map is designed, cut, engraved, painted, and assembled by hand in Japan. Natural variations in wood grain and hand-finished details ensure that every piece is unique. Maps are made to order with care and attention to detail.
